Over 200 women attended Linda’s International Women’s Day Dinner at the Cedar Court Hotel Wakefield on 17th March 2016. Everyone was keen to learn more about the school and we were all amazed by the kindness and friendship shown.
Said Khalida Luqman, “I have been to Linda’s charity dinners before but I could never have imagined that one of these events would have been dedicated to the Tasibeh Girls School. It’s a very humbling experience and I have been overwhelmed by the support”
In addition to Linda speech there were contributions from Yvette Cooper MP and Guest Speaker, renowned author, Marina Lewycka.
So far this event and the other International Women’s Day events have raised over £8000 for the school.
Said Tasibeh Girls School Treasurer Anna Chester “The fundraising led by Linda and her team has raised a phenomenal amount for the school. £8000 will make a huge difference and will cover the running costs of the school for 9/10 months”

Every year Linda McAvan MEP involves school pupils in the design of her Christmas card which goes out to hundreds of people. This year she invited pupils of the Tasibeh Girls School to submit designs for the card – the first time a school outside Yorkshire and the Humber have been involved.
There were nearly 100 entries and the winning design came from Haida, age 9 – her design is below
There were nine runners up and their designs can be seen on the reverse of the card.
Linda McAvan MEP met up with friends and supporters of the school to share the good news and show everyone the lovely cards!
Khalida Luqman, who is going to visit the school in Pakistan in a few weeks, will present Haida, the winner and the nine runners up with small gifts from Linda to recognise their excellent work – and we’ll share pictures from that event when we have them!
On Saturday 14th November we’ll have a fundraising stall at a Women’s Fair and Health Festival. The event starts at 11am and finishes at 3pm and is being held at The Old Junior School, South View Rd, Sheffield, S7 1DB
Do come along and support our fundraising for the Tasibeh Girls School!!
Thanks to everyone who came along to Clifton Methodist Church on Sat 19th September. The support for our first Coffee Morning was tremendous and it was great to see such a cross section of people!
We served an Asian Brunch; had Home Made cakes and jams for sale as well as a Bric a Brac stall and a great selection of the famous Tassibee scarves for sale.
We raised just under £400 for the school and are really grateful to everyone who came along as well as the volunteers who made this event possible. Special thanks to Jennifer Lovell from the Church.
On Saturday 6th June we were delighted that the Tasibeh Girls School was the chosen charity for the Rotherfed Annual ‘Golden Seven’ event. We had a food stall and also sold scarves and offered henna hand painting.
We made £350 on our stall and Rotherfed raised another £200. It was a lovely afternoon and great to have this opportunity to raise awareness about the school with new friends.
